Kick The Concrete's Best Live Sports Moments of 2025

It's been another thrilling year in the world of sports.

This year marked significant milestones for Kick The Concrete as we were credentialed for multiple sports for the first time. It was great to be part of historic moments in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) and National Basketball Association (NBA). We witnessed how the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and Formula 1 are putting a stake in Denver. We also covered the Super Bowl festivities in New Orleans and beyond.

Everything Kick The Concrete does, whether it's clear sports coverage or not, exhibits a competitive spirit and a pursuit of excellence.

Here's the top sports moments that Kick The Concrete was a part of in 2025:

PWHL Takeover Tour in Denver

The PWHL had a historic season last year, celebrating wins for women's hockey one after another. Kick The Concrete had a front row seat in January for one of the major milestones: the largest attendance for a women's hockey game in the United States. The mark was set with 14,018 fans at the game between the Minnesota Frost and Montréal Victoire at Ball Arena in Denver. The game was part of the PWHL's Takeover Tour, bringing the thrill of the game and a message of empowerment for women and girls.

The PWHL Takeover Tour also served as a test to see where an expansion team would make sense. The crowd cheered "We want a team!" but their wishes were not met as the league decided to add clubs in Seattle and Vancouver.

In March, the attendance record was passed when 14,288 fans cheered on the Minnesota Frost and New York Sirens at a game in Detroit. The mark was beat again in November at the opening of the 2025-2026 season when 16,014 fans attended the Seattle Torrent's home debut against the Minnesota Frost.

But Denver is still in the PWHL's plans. The league will play two games in the Mile High City as part of the upcoming Takeover Tour.

NFL Latino Youth Honors celebrated at Super Bowl LIX

Kick The Concrete was credentialed to cover our first Super Bowl festivities! We had so much fun exploring the culture of New Orleans, learning about local designers, and seeing how the league is uplifting the next generation of athletes.

A big part of the latter is the NFL Latino Youth Honors. We got to spend a day with the eight finalists as they experienced the Fan Zone, met New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave and spent some quality time together.

"I truly didn’t even know that there was a program that honored people of Latin descent and athletes and people that are amazing in the classroom and outside as well," Cecilia Beauchamp, one of the finalists, told Kick The Concrete. "So it’s amazing to have an award that kind of represents my identity as a student-athlete, as an activist, as somebody that speaks up for what she believes in and who she is."

The NFL announced the next round of finalists for the Latino Youth Honors as the program continues moving forward strongly.

1 Million People Celebrate at Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl LIX Parade

The Super Bowl fun didn't stop in New Orleans. Valentine's Day 2025 was a love story between a football team and their fans. The Philadelphia Eagles held their Super Bowl LIX parade in the City of Brotherly Love surrounded by enormous adulation and Kick The Concrete was there to witness it.

Jalen Hurts was at the front on the lead bus hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. The Super Bowl MVP smoked a victory cigar and wore a Jordan Brand hoodie that said, "Love, Hurts." The victory, where the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, was his first Super Bowl win and the first for Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, who joined Philadelphia in the offseason and had a record-breaking year.

It was a clear, sunny day and a reported 1 million fans were bundled in Eagles jackets and beanies to withstand the 37°F temperature and cheer on their heroes. People were sitting on top of any structure that could hold them to get the best view of their champions.

"I told myself that when I got drafted that I wouldn't come to the Rocky Steps until I got drafted," Hurts told the crowd as they chanted "M-V-P!" "And now we're here."

After the speeches, fans were picking up pieces of confetti off the ground as a keepsake of the day. The actual party might have ended, but the love lingered.

Colorado Rockies Have Snowy Opening Day

MLB's Opening Day is one of the most exciting dates on the sports calendar. It is a sign that spring is upon us and we can settle into a new season of America's Pastime.

But for the Colorado Rockies, winter was clinging to life. Their home opener against the Athletics (who didn't put a city to their name this season because they're in between moving from Oakland to Las Vegas), was snowy and Kick The Concrete was cold along with everyone else.

The Rockies announced that the game was a sellout with an attendance of 48,015, which is technically a sellout, although the stadium was maybe half full.

The game was close with both teams scoring a run in the first inning and then a pair of runs later on. The score was tied at three at the end of nine innings. The Athletics snatched the win 6-3 in 11 innings.

The weather was cold and so was the chill of a loss for the Rockies.

The Colorado Rockies made headlines for all the wrong reasons this year in their historically bad season. While the Los Angeles Angels aren't exactly much better, they did have a bright spot when they faced the Rockies at Coors Field in September.

Mike Trout hit his 400th home run!

Kick The Concrete was there to document history when the future Hall-of-Famer smacked the run in the eighth inning in a 3-0 win over the Rockies. He is only the 59th player in MLB history during the AL/NL era to reach the 400 home run mark. And he's done it all with the Halos.

Demaryius Thomas Inducted into Denver Broncos Ring of Fame

In the conversation of sports stars gone too soon, Demaryius Thomas comes to mind. The wide receiver was a five-time Pro Bowler and won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos. He passed away suddenly in December 2021 from complications due to a seizure disorder and didn't get to see his career fully celebrated.

Kick The Concrete was on hand when the Broncos honored their shining star by inducting him into the Ring of Fame at a thrilling game against the New York Giants in October. His teammates, including Peyton Manning, DeMarcus Ware and fellow wideout Emmanuel Sanders, were in attendance as Denver also commemorated the 10 year anniversary of the Super Bowl 50 win. There wasn't a dry eye in the house as Thomas' name was revealed on the stadium next to Manning's. Thomas' parents were also present, soaking in the tribute to their son.

The Broncos might be continuing to feel Thomas' spirit. They've won nine straight games, including the thrilling fourth quarter comeback, and are second in the AFC standings.

Colorado is a soccer state and it only makes sense that the Mile High City is getting an NWSL team. In July, the league revealed that the latest club's name will be Denver Summit FC.

The team's supporter's group held a happy hour gathering downtown to rally around the new name and team identity. Kick The Concrete had to be there! Overall, spirits were high as fans felt like the name was clear and represented the competitive, excellent nature they hope the club exhibits.

"I think Summit is absolutely the best, but especially with the branding that's coming out with it, I think it's amazing," Dana Kettlewell, a founding member of the supporter group, said. "I think it's such a good capture of the Colorado spirit."

F1 Arcade Opens in Denver

F1 continues its incredible growth in the United States. While there's not plans for a fourth race any time soon, F1 Arcade is popping up at locations across the country. Denver was the latest one this summer, the fourth location in the United States, and Kick The Concrete was one of the first to check it out.

We've been to the original London location and were curious to see how the Denver one stacked up. Nestled in the popular RiNo District, F1 Arcade is a brick building with 69 racing simulators and an art deco bar . The action is fun and the food and drinks are quite tasty.

Nikola Jokić's Historic Start to 2025-26 Season

The Denver Nuggets started their season strong behind a historic streak from Nikola Jokić. Kick The Concrete covered the team's game against the New Orleans Pelicans where the three-time MVP had 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in the 122-88 win.

This marked The Joker's fourth triple-double to open the season. He tied Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and fellow MVP Russell Westbrook for the record of most triple-doubles to start a campaign.

Jokić maintained his cool demeanor when discussing his landmark night.

"It's not effortless. I think we need to stop saying that," he said. "I'm still running like other guys. ... Sometimes just the game goes my way and I have a good night like today. I think it was an okay night, a decent night, whatever, a good night for me. So hopefully it's going to be like that in the future."

The big man didn't end up notching his fifth triple-double for the record, but he continues to play at an elite level. So much so that LeBron James had to give him props, telling Steve Nash on the Mind The Game podcast that "there has not been a more dominant complete player that I've played against."

Aaron Donald Expands Foundation to Los Angeles

Aaron Donald's playing days might be over, but he's continuing the champion mentality into how he gives back to the community. In June, the future Hall of Famer expanded his AD99 Foundation from Donald's home town of Pittsburgh to his second home, Los Angeles.

Kick The Concrete was in attendance as Raising Cane's gave the 10-time Pro Bowler a check for $100,000 to continue pouring into youth through football camps and mentorships. Donald expressed gratitude, explained his interest in acting, and spoke on his excitement of the growth of women's sports in Los Angeles.
