Wimbledon, known as "tennis in an English garden," is one of the most famous tournaments in all of sports. We had to see what it's like for ourselves — and we did it without breaking the bank.
We showed up in the afternoon after the morning rush and there was no line at The Queue. We walked right in and were able to purchase a Grounds Pass. The ticket costs £25 and allows access to most of the vast complex, including courts 3 through 18 so you get to see plenty of tennis action.
We also joined the wait list for Centre Court at the Ticket Resale counter, which is where you can reuse someone else's ticket for court 1, 2 or Centre Court after they've left for the day. When we registered, we were 2,833rd in line. Our chances of making it to the big stage weren't great.
We enjoyed the afternoon anyways and found a tucked away corner of seats overlooking The Hill. Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti were playing in the quarterfinals and the match was shown on a big screen. The view of the actual screen wasn't great because people kept walking by, but there was a peaceful waterfall and an incredible view of London.
And then...
We were notified that we did, indeed, get tickets to Centre Court! They cost £15 and we rushed over to the historic venue to watch Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua take on Andrea Petkovic and Magdalena Rybarikova in a Ladies' Invitation Doubles match.
The day ended with a Wimbledon tradition: strawberries and cream, which cost a cool £2.50.
