Is there a better feeling than realizing one of your favorite artists quietly dropped a project?
That's what happened this week when we saw on X/Twitter last night that Ace Hood released a new album! If you don't know, the "Bugatti" rapper has been on the independent grind and is continuing to deliver motivational music like few others.
We have a handful of other independent releases from friends of Kick The Concrete and artists we admire from afar. You know we love our British music.
KTC is grateful for the opportunity to celebrate underrated artists and put you onto something new that will feed your soul.
Here's the Kick The Concrete Music Report:
Ace Hood — "S.O.U.L." Album
Ace Hood is still doing his thing! His new album, "S.O.U.L.," stands for "Some Of Us Lose" and it's a heartfelt project that is equally about the wins of counting money and donning designer as the losses of betrayal and death. The album continues Ace Hood's series that includes 2022's "M.I.N.D." and 2023's "B.O.D.Y." It is anchored by booming 808s, soulful piano and snappy snares. "Yes He Is" is especially moving. It's basically a worship song with a hypnotic hook. The Broward County Boss shouts out Dapper Dan on "Righteous Sin" while saying he doesn't need anyone but himself and God. There's reflective moments incorporating scripture and songs like "That Mode" where Ace Hood reminds us exactly who he is, one of the best motivational rappers in the game.
At'Eaze — "The Lost Psalms" Album
At'Eaze brought something special with his new album, "The Lost Psalms." The project is meant to reach those who need something to relate to in the hardship, but also provide a sense of hope. There's a little bit of everything on here, from the incredible storytelling on "WhatchuCryinFuh?" to the vacay vibes of "Cabo," and it's just artfully done. A must-listen for sure.
FKA Twigs — "Perfectly" Single
There are few artists as ethereal as FKA Twigs. Her latest offering is the single, "Perfectly." The smooth dance beat is infectious and her airy vocals describe "a sky of blue, a sea of green, a messy room fits perfectly inside my head." It's escapism at its finest.
AmirSaysNothing — "NeedToKnow" Single
The rollout for AmirSaysNothing's "We Are Who We Say We Are" album is underway! The Los Angeles-based artist released the synthy single "NeedToKnow" ahead of the album's August 8 release date. The out-of-space production and Amir's gentle mumbling make this a perfect song to zone out to.
Allison Eide — "idk" Single
Allison Eide is a singer-songwriter who has a really cool vibe. Her latest single, "idk" is '90s alternative with a boost of inspiration. The track is a perfect balance of angsty as Eide channels Hayley Williams via singing-yelling vocals and a message that it's okay to not have all the answers for life's daily questions.
Fun fact: Eide was a college basketball player before committing to her music career!
Jim Legxacy — "black british music (2025)" Album
Jim Legxacy is one of the most exciting new artists across the pond right now. The British multi-hyphenate made a splash when he produced Dave and Central Cee's "Sprinter" and he is further stepping into his own spotlight with his "black british music (2025)" album. There's some bold claims even on the song titles, including "new david bowie" and the breezy rock song "'06 wayne rooney." Legxacy's smooth vocals soar across several soundscapes as he croons about love, belonging and seeking life direction. There's some great rap moments, including the reference of J Hus's "Did You See" on "sun" and the reunion with Dave on "3x." But this one is all vibes.
